Kendal Poetry Festival

Kendal Poetry Festival is a thrillingly vibrant festival which takes place each year in the South Cumbrian market town of Kendal.  Directed by poets Kim Moore and Clare Shaw, KPF is a focal point for the lively poetry community of Cumbria and a popular poetry destination for poetry lovers from around the UK and Ireland.  Whilst the festival takes place in a market town in a rural landscape, it is characterised by its diversity, its dynamism, and its accessibility. We believe that everyone should be able to participate in poetry and we take active steps to make this happen – for example, we employ an accessibility consultant to ensure that our venues are fully accessible; we offer bursaries for low income writers and those with disabilities; and we place young poets at the heart of the festival, where they host their own events and perform alongside national and international guest poets.
