1.
warm and salty
sea
ears pink
seaweed green
you rock in the waves
like a laughing bell
with this expression
I hold you
so you don’t float away
there was sand and salt
how painful
to see you
grow out of the sea
right into my arms
an archaic camera
fails to capture
the huge warm
water
rippling around your knees
2.
I read a poem by marts pujāts
on water and tenderness
I learned it by heart
tried to recite it for a girl
in bolderāja
I too wanted to write a poem
about water and tenderness
I knew right away
that it would be about my brother
how we were in the sea
and how I held him
under his arms
and how he rocked in the waves
submerged in water
with a happy expression
and how his ears were
and his laughter
and how good and happy
that moment was
and then about
how he’s now grown
and no longer needs
to be held in the waves
he’s standing in the shallows
on his own
today he let me sleep
in his high bed
with the tentlike roof
and the soft ikea rabbit
and he tickled my nose
with mice whiskers
we tickled each other long
and I fell asleep
on my belly
1.
silta un sāļa
jūra
rozā ausīm
zaļām ūdenszālēm
šūpojies viļņos
kā smejošs zvārgulis
ar šitādu grimasi
es turu tevi
lai tu neaizpeldi
tur bija smiltis un sāls
cik gan neizturami
redzēt tevi
izaugam no jūras
man rokās
arhaiska kamera
nespēj notvert
milzīgo silto
ūdeni
kas viļņojas pie taviem ceļiem
2.
es lasīju marta pujāta dzejoli
par ūdeni un maigumu
es iemācījos to no galvas
bolderājā centos noskaitīt
vienai meitenei
es arī gribēju uzrakstīt dzejoli
par ūdeni un maigumu
uzreiz zināju
ka tas būs par brāli
un par to kā mēs bijām jūrā
un kā es viņu turēju
aiz padusēm
un viņš šūpojās viļņos
iegrimis ūdenī
priecīgi saviebies
to kādas viņam bija ausis
un smiekli
un cik tas bija labs
un laimīgs brīdis
tad par to
kā viņš ir izaudzis
viņam vairs nevajag
lai viņu tur viļņos
viņš stāv seklumā
pats
šodien viņš ļāva man gulēt
savā augstajā gultā
ar telts jumtu
un mīksto ikea trusi
un kutināja man nāsis
ar peļu ūsām
mēs ilgi viens otru kutinājām
un es aizmigu
uz vēdera
