Foam in a dry mouth
Then the wind on a red face
And lost words lap.
In the chorusing seashell
Held by a child
Who listens to music
Out the palm of his hand
Which comes to life with the song
And draws the trail
Of a raft lost in the ocean
And then it fades in the sand
The story
Along with the tides
It ebbs and flows away
And submerges in the salty stars
And scurries
And starts and gets lost
And forgotten
And suddenly cries
The wave passes over the frontier and subsides on the coast of remembrance.
The body bedazzles the sand
Boiling hot in its entrails
Thoughts fly away on the wings of seagulls
Returning where they came from
Others are buried
Others harbour silence
Others are drops in the ocean
No more than red seaweed
Caught on the foot of a child
Who builds his nice big strong castle
That soars on the beach
That stretches along
a cliff
No more than a pebble
Softened with the current
That foams and jostles
That churns and polishes
Picked up in the hand of a painter
Who reveals its red colour
Or no more than that grain of sand
Collected in a souvenir spade from holidays
Winding up soon
At home
Soon the breath
Soon the breath of the wind
Soon the wind in the blur
Soon the blurring of the wind turns wild
Soon the wild wind is stained red
Soon the red spreads over the body
Soon the red dresses a whole body
Soon the red breathes the bodies in the wild wind
Soon the bodies are lost in the red ocean
Soon the lapping of bodies pointing out the foam
Soon the bodies breathe words in the blur
Soon the breath of words on the sand
Soon the sand turns red
Soon the wind in the bodies
Soon the words in the sand
Where only a dream resists
Hanging on
To the driftwood of humanity
L'Écume dans la bouche sèche
Puis le vent sur la face rouge
Et Clapotent les mots perdus
Dans le coquillage ritournelle
Que tient l'enfant
Qui écoute la musique
Dans le creux de sa main
Qui s'anime au gré du chant
Et qui dessine le rail
D’un radeau perdu dans l'océan
Et puis s'efface dans le sable
L’histoire
D'autres s'enterrent
