Poetry Expo 23

‘I feel privileged to have initiated this unprecedented event of 100 poets/writers/artists from all over the world, celebrating the Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) 2023! RED, as the human race has put it in such a minimalist way, is actually a broad spectrum of varieties, including scarlet, ruby, carmine, vermilion, maroon, raspberry, coral, cardinal, crimson... a universal set of poetic labels. We distinguish its SHADES, but we are more enchanted with its LIGHT. After all, all colors, in their essences, are produced by the dispersion of light. The color red, in traditional Chinese culture, is a symbol of auspiciousness, prosperity, glory, and fortune. That is why we decorate our homes with red door-guarding gods, red fireworks, red Chinese knots, red lanterns, red couplets, red window-decorating paper-cuts, red costumes and accessories for this most important festival of the whole year—the Spring Festival, Chinese Lunar New Year! Today, January 21st is New Year's Eve, which is a time when people come home for family reunions from anywhere across the country… Here we come together, in the name of poetry, the vessels of most amorphous human thinking, bringing in archetypes of collective unconscious from various cultural backgrounds, merging into a pure single color, lighting up the dawn of 2023, as if the Tower of Babel had never left any language barriers among us because we share visions and experiences by the clairvoyance and synesthesia of wordsmiths rather than in semantics in the narrow sense. Let’s believe, at this moment, what is serenely blooming will keep on growing in our souls, whenever we look beyond the red light, we feel our own silhouettes clearly outlined before our eyes, even in total darkness, always traced by the infrared rays of inner lucidity...’
