Poetry Vicenza

Poetry Vicenza, a festival of contemporary poetry and music, was launched in 2015 in the Palladian city of Vicenza, Italy. It is supported by the Palazzo Leoni Montanari museum (Gallerie d’Italia, Intesa Sanpaolo) and the Vicenza Town Hall Council. Planned and organized by TheArtsBox Association, in collaboration with the Vicenza Jazz Festival, and other public and private institutions, is directed by Marco Fazzini, who teaches English and postcolonial literature at the University of Venice, Ca’ Foscari.

Some 30 international poets and songwriters are invited each year, together with some of the best contemporary Italian poets, musicians, critics, actors and artists, all performing in exclusive historical locations, such as Palazzo Leoni Montanari, Palazzo Chiericati, Teatro Olimpico, Palazzo Trissino and Basilica Palladiana, as well as other private locations and art galleries. Poetry Vicenza encourages and welcomes readers and performers that are individual thinkers able to take part in, and devise original styles for, dialogues between words and music.

Between 2015 and 2020, more than 200 poets have visited Vicenza, covering a range of 30 languages and 40 countries, enabling school students, scholars, researchers and fans of poetry to encounter and understand more about love, death, tolerance, social co-existence, translation and creative leanings as viewed through the prisms of different cultures.
