Miljenko Jergović

Miljenko Jergović was born in 1966 in Sarajevo. He graduated in sociology and philosophy from the Faculty of Philosophy in his hometown. In the late 1980s, he first gained recognition as a poet, and later as a writer and journalist. In 1993, he moved from besieged Sarajevo to Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. He is one of the most prominent authors from the countries of the former Yugoslavia, acclaimed beyond linguistic borders and the recipient of numerous national and international literary awards. He currently lives and works in a village near Zagreb.
