Kern Carter
Kern Carter is a Toronto-based author, ghostwriter and speaker whose work explores themes of identity, vulnerability and emotional truth. Born in Trinidad and raised in Canada, he brings a deeply personal voice to both his fiction and non-fiction. A graduate of St. Bonaventure University with a degree in English Literature, Kern began his career in self-publishing before moving on to traditional publishing success. His novels include Thoughts of a Fractured Soul, Beauty Scars and the critically acclaimed Boys and Girls Screaming. His middle-grade debut Is There a Boy Like Me was released by Scholastic, with And Then There Was Us forthcoming from Penguin Random House. Beyond his books, Kern is the founder of CRY, a creative platform dedicated to empowering emerging writers and promoting honest, emotional storytelling. He also offers coaching and ghostwriting services, helping others bring their stories to life. Through his workshops and talks, Kern inspires writers to pursue their craft with authenticity and resilience – proving that success in publishing doesn’t require a massive platform, only a meaningful voice.
