Europas Stimmen / mapping poetic voices

We are delighted to present Europas Stimmen / mapping poetic voices, published through a partnership between Versopolis, its German member festival Hausacher LeseLenz, and Schiler & Mücke publishers. Bringing together 70 Versopolis poets across 39 languages, with original texts alongside German translations, the anthology invites readers on a journey through Europe’s diverse poetic landscapes.

In their foreword, the editors ask: What is Europe—and who is Europe? An answer emerges through the poems themselves: through distinct voices, memories and ways of seeing that together give the continent its many faces. Each poem opens a different route into this shared yet endlessly varied space, inviting readers to encounter experiences beyond their own.

At the heart of the anthology is a belief in poetry’s freedom and its ability to speak to us in unsettled times: to question and resist, to offer consolation and to make room for hope. Reflecting Versopolis’s commitment to bringing poets and readers together across languages and borders, Europas Stimmen / mapping poetic voices celebrates translation as an act of encounter. It invites us to discover Europe through its poetry—and to keep listening, knowing that there are always more voices to be heard.
