Changes, Metamorphoses, and the Discovery of Wings
Poetry Expo 2026
This work presents the poem Changes, Transformations, and Metamorphoses as an intimate video reading within the ongoing series Nonô Reads Blog Verses. The piece unfolds as a meditation on the human condition in a time of global instability, approaching life as a continuous process of movement, rupture, and necessary adaptation. Change is not framed as an exception or crisis, but as the fundamental rhythm of existence – an ongoing sequence of rising and falling.
The poem treats the self not as a stable or completed entity, but as something constantly in flux, shaped by internal imbalances and external pressures. Through its language and delivery, it traces the process of becoming: learning to acknowledge limits while simultaneously discovering new forms of strength, resilience, and possibility. Metamorphosis emerges as both vulnerability and survival strategy.
The video format intensifies this exploration, foregrounding presence, voice, and intimacy. The act of reading becomes an embodied gesture of care – an attentive listening to one’s own fragility and persistence. In this way, the work resonates with the concerns of Hybrid Selves, where identity is understood as process rather than essence, and with The Poetics of Care, where tenderness toward the self becomes a radical and sustaining practice in a world marked by fragmentation and continual transformation.
The project is part of the subthemes Hybrid Selves – Gender, Identity, and Posthuman Intimacies, The Poetics of Care – Intimacy, Tenderness, Repair.
