LYRIK & SOUND (the echo of violence)

Poetry Expo 2026

LYRIK&SOUND is poetry’s answer to the violence of our time. The artists of LYRIK&SOUND (Joseph Braeus / poet & Miguel Star / sound artist) see in art the potential to stop the spiral of violence. The writer and physician Friedrich Wolf said at the founding congress of the Workers’ Theatre Association in 1928: ‘Art is a weapon.’ Today we know that the best weapon is being unarmed. Poetry has the power to purify the language of violence and awaken feelings that prevent violence. Music carries these words. Social networks can become the fertile ground for a new forest of peace. Let’s cultivate it!

The project is part of the subthemes Writing After – Catastrophe, Memory, and the Archive of Loss, Disrupted Realities – Poetry and the Politics of Truth, Poetic Infrastructures – Reclaiming Space, Building Commons.
