Julio Puyo Méndez
Julio Puyo Méndez (L'Hospitalet del Llobregat, Barcelona) is a writer of dark and transgressive themes. From a young age, he felt an irremediable curiosity and attraction for both life and death that led him to explore the world in a self-taught way. With an innate talent for both poetry and writing, he has chameleonic skills to dress as both a cursed poet and a factory worker.
Recently, at the end of 2021, he released his first collection of poems titled “La Religión de los Suicidas,” having a very good reception among readers from different countries. It is a poetic experience that alternates between rebellious overtones, passionate phrases, genuine and visceral texts capable of being ecstatic in the same sentence, narcissistic, devious, provocative, irreverent... but also suggestive, enveloping, infamous and crude, all at the same time. . The author inserts his hands into the reader's entrails, stirs up the most hidden viscera and thoughts and disorganizes what one is with the sole intention that at the end each one places their emotions and ideas in the appropriate place. It is a very dark and disturbing work, a book that has an imprint that sounds, at times, like a prophetic reading.
Regular readers of writers as diverse as Schopenhauer, Cioran, Baudelaire, Neruda, Nietzsche, Galeano, Lovecraft and Poe. He has exhibited in places such as Casa Seat, book fairs, extreme music themed fairs (death, black...), as well as in different radio programs and as an artist in the international surrealist event “L'Age D'Or” held in Barcelona last May. In this setting, it was possible to attend an evening of surreal and transgressive art of a local and international nature and the artistic representation of several groups, including the poetic performance “La Religión de los Suicidas” executed together with the multidisciplinary artist Jack Bernal in L´Age D´Or event, Sinestesia Musical Pub and RES Futura Art Festival.
Currently, he embarks on his first novel called “Manjares para los Corderos y para las Bestias,” a suburban odyssey that tells the story of Moises, an average boy, and his vision of the world. His work, of course, has his mark with the usual raw and dark atmosphere that gives all his texts. His books can be found on the Amazon platform.
