Telek (Winters)
an experiment with TidalCycles, poetry and AI
Poetry Expo 25
This project explores the intersection of poetry, code, and AI-generated music through TidalCycles (Tidal), a software for algorithmic pattern-based composition. Tidal provides a flexible notation for rhythmic sequences and an extensive library of functions for manipulating them, enabling the creation of complex musical patterns from simple elements.
In this experiment, AI (Claude Sonnet 3.5) was used to generate music based on a poem, as no ChatGPT model could produce proper Tidal code. The resulting AI-generated composition served as the ambient background for a reading of the poem. This process—from poetry to code, code to music, and back to poetry—became a unique co-creative dialogue between human expression and artificial intelligence.
The project is part of the subtheme Technopoetics - AI, Digital Media and the Future of Creativity.
