Volume by "L'Épître"

Poetry Expo 25

Promoting new and established authors alike, "L’Épître" aims at reaching an audience as broad as possible. The Swiss literary magazine continuously explores and curates new literary forms. It enjoys initiating projects involving multimodality. Volume is one of them, bringing voices, sound effects and music together.

This video poem blends two texts that were originally published on "L’Épître"’s online platform, ‘Des Murs des Mondes’ by Florian Poupelin (presented here in a shorter version) and ‘Mue’ by Apolline Fellay. Although one text is in prose and the other in verse, they both address very similar topics related to alienation and mental health. In Florian Poupelin’s text, the I-voice seems locked in a room offering little ground for optimism and imagination. Apolline Fellay’s poem explores the possibility to get rid of social and linguistic constructs in order to go back to the basics. The argument is beautifully interwoven with the elegant image of a sloughing snake.

Texts: Florian Poupelin and Apolline Fellay

The project is part of the subtheme Healing Narratives - Poetry, Mental Health and Collective Trauma.

L'Épître

Founded in 2013, "L’Épître" is a French-speaking Swiss literary magazine publishing new and established authors from Switzerland and abroad. Through its online platform, "L’Épître" offers a place for tryouts and experimental writing. Feedback is given on every submitted text, including those rejected. The committee puts great effort into editorial work and aims at helping writers progress according to their levels and needs. Since its foundation, the magazine has published hundreds of new and established authors on its online platform and on paper, a more selective yearly format.

"L’Épître" organises about 30 literary events per year, including readings, performances, residencies and writing workshops. Recently, it has curated an exhibition addressing climate change. The magazine endeavours to make literature accessible to an audience as broad as possible. It strives to remunerate writing professionals, a practice still less than common in the French-speaking literary world.
