Poetry Expo 25

Yeşim Ağaoğlu, an artist working in both contemporary art and poetry, integrates these disciplines into her short video works. In this animated video, created using miniature model figures, she explores themes of migration and immigration, reflecting the subject of the poem chosen for the piece.

Ağaoğlu has long been fascinated by the phenomenon of immigration, developing numerous visual and literary works on the theme over the years. This deep engagement may stem from her personal connection, as both her maternal and paternal families come from immigrant backgrounds.

The subject of immigration remains a painful reality, an inevitable consequence of the destruction caused by wars, both in the past and today. Through her work, Ağaoğlu seeks to illuminate this universal human experience, blending poetic and visual storytelling to evoke a deeper understanding.

The project is part of the subthemes Re-imagining identity through poetry, Cultural Resilience - Literature as a force for social justice.
