In the Shape of a Girl

Poetry Expo 25

In the Shape of a Girl is a poetic, experimental short film that explores themes of trauma and the destruction of childhood. After losing their mother in 2016, the poet's life came to a standstill at an age when processing such a loss felt impossible.

The film is structured into three sections: Pure, Limbo, and Rebirth, representing innocence, grief, and self-discovery—mirroring the poet’s personal journey of growth and transformation. Spoken word serves as a guide through the film’s dramatic, non-linear visuals, allowing each viewer to interpret the experience through the lens of their own life.

The project is part of the subtheme Healing Narratives - Poetry, Mental Health and Collective Trauma.
