ARCHAEOLOGY OF LITERATURE

a multidisciplinary performance based on haikus by Maks Lyzhov

Poetry Expo 25

ARCHAEOLOGY OF LITERATURE is an interdisciplinary performance based on haikus by Maks Lyzhov which took place as part of the 7th TRANSLATORIUM Literary and Translation Festival and combined literature, music, and video art.

Can contemporary literature, in its various manifestations, become the material remains of human activity that future archaeologists will use to study us? Being a frequent participant in archaeological expeditions, Maks Lyzhov creates poetic texts that can be used to decode the Ukrainian current reality.

In his haikus, Lyzhov describes a variety of social issues and events, from politics to war, and thus they serve as a time capsule.

NGO TRANSLATORIUM

TRANSLATORIUM is a Ukrainian non-governmental organization working with translators and for the translation community, and creating a platform for the intersection of different kinds of art. We organize residencies, art projects, and an eponymous festival.

The TRANSLATORIUM Festival is the only literary and translation festival for now in Ukraine, which is dedicated to translation and the International Translator’s Day. Since 2017, it has been annually held in Khmelnytskyi in late September — early October and has already had 7 editions.

Apart from the Festival, in June 2023, the team launched the BAZHAN residency for poets and poetry translators in Kamianets-Podilskyi, Ukraine. The project is kindly supported by Versopolis platform, supported by EU Creative Europe.
