Poems from the Islands

Poetry Expo 25

Each voice - which no one can suppress - which may be the rain, the deer, the sea, the turtle, the voices of the children who did not return to their homes) takes the stage to speak of the personal struggle of survival, fragmented, fragmentary, as if the lyrical feeling has been broken and only the voice remains. Some of these voices may be persistent and time cannot help but hear them. What drives me to poetry is the magic of words which overwhelms much more space than the writer can cover. Writing is refuge, redemption, perhaps even a form of resistance. Perhaps because the magic of words contains beauty and beauty people, from whatever country they come from, on every planet out there, will seek it as an oasis, a refuge, oxygen and breath.

The project is part of the subtheme The Ecology of Language - Poetry and Environmental Action.
