Poetry Expo 24

The climate crisis is one of the greatest challenges of our time. As the consequences of a changing climate become increasingly apparent, the need to understand and address this menace is more urgent than ever. For many, poetry can offer a unique lens for understanding this vital issue, as well as providing a creative outlet for expressing their fears, hopes, and observations. Poets and artists have the power to raise awareness of climate change, to explore the emotions that stem from it, and to document the stories of those affected by it. Through their words and visuals, they can paint vivid images of the destruction and the beauty of our planet, and thus help us to come to terms with and respond to the climate crisis. In addition, literature and art can offer innovative perspectives for understanding and addressing the issue, from the personal to the global, from the philosophical to the political. Poets can encourage us to think about the social and environmental issues that are connected to the climate crisis and to consider the personal and collective actions we can take as individuals and communities. Poetry can be a powerful tool for challenging the status quo, for inspiring us to act, and for amplifying the voices of those who are most affected by the climate crisis. In short, poetry and art can be an important part of the fight against the global threat of climate change.

The project is part of the subtheme Climate Crisis and Poetry.
