HAIR IN THE WIND

Woman, Life, Freedom

Poetry Expo 24

HAIR IN THE WIND is a collective art-poetry Installation curated by Antje Stehn. It is dedicated to the courage of Iranian women and their dramatic, irrepressible struggle after the murder of Mahsa Amini guilty of letting a lock of hair out of her hijab. Their cry "Women, Life, Freedom" has crossed borders uniting women of different countries, cultures, religions, becoming the banner of those who rebel against abuse and violence. The initiative was born on 25 November when, on the occasion of the international day against violence against women, Antje Stehn, a German poet and artist who lives in Milan, Italy launched an international call to support the struggle of Iranian and Afghan women with their own poetic work which was gethered around the big Hemp head sculpture which Antje Stehn had created. In just two months she received over 30 adhesions from associations from all over the world and about 200 poems from participants from over 30 countries including many refugees from Iran, living abroad. They are all part of the installation now. HAIR IN THE WIND was presented in live events in Italy during the year 2023. In our video we present 32 selected poetry videos of the participants.
