LitVest
25 – 26 September 2024
- Timis, Romania -
One of the most creative literary festivals, LitVest was launched in September 2012 and is organised by The Timis County Council and The `Sorin Titel` Timis County Library. The festival includes experimental public readings, concerts with literary interventions etc. Our public readings are the biggest in Romania. The participants are, usually, organized in flexible structures that reflect the nature of the public space in which the event is held: ConCentrica, RectiLinia etc. The groups represent the most various social and professional categories: students, librarians, prisoners, firemen, artists etc. LitVest is, also, about showing that literature is, first and foremost, about creativity and imagination. We try to illustrate these two concepts through the events we organize, through their concepts and formats. As a public library, our objective is to bridge the gap between literature and social and professional categories that do not have constant contact with it. The public is a `shareholder`; it is the `Protagonist`, the readings are done by the participants` representatives who make a miniature version of Romania. We promote Timisoara as `The Capital of Public Readings`. Initiatives such as `The Reading Blanket`, an urban literary picnic, or `Readings in full light`, readings by light coming from unconventional sources, have been implemented in other cultural centres too. This is the first time that Timisoara and Romania export concepts of this kind.
But LitVest is not only about reading `shows`, but also about leaving lasting traces/ generating aesthetic documents. The LitVest photo shootings treat writers as characters. Photographed as hypnotists, policemen etc, they `play` unique roles which shed a unique light on their personality.
