POESITID is Copenhagen's International Poetry Festival, presenting some of the best current poetry from Denmark and the world to a Danish and international audience.

POESITID is an open festival, presenting readings and events in collaboration with partners during the festival, as well as four recurring events curated by Poesiens Hus:

The Very Best Nonrequired Nordic Poetry (BNNP)
Each year on the 21st of March, on World Poetry Day, POESITID is launched by the release of our annual BNNP anthology of Nordic poetry from the previous year. The BNNP poems are selected by our young editors (aged 15-25) in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Iceland. All poems are published in their original language as well as in English translation, by the publishing house Ordskælv. The BNNP anthology series has been released annually since 2020.

Poet's Dinner
In collaboration with Versopolis, Poesiens Hus conducts a three course dinner, where two European Versopolis poets read a selection of their poems  - with live-read translations - between courses. A strong, yet intimate experience, creating the foundation for an international poetry community.

Ordbær
What is an Ordbær? Ordbær is a word composed of other words, creating a new word with precisely the meaning you gift it. One example: 'Snowsleep': When you sleep as lightly as newly fallen snow.
A professional writer and a professional artist are in charge as pupils from public schools in Copenhagen create Ordbær-books, and through play create new words, drawings and meaning together.
Their Ordbær-books remind us that language belongs to us all, and is something we create together.

Poetry Prize

Every POESITID closes with the gifting of the first Poetry Prize in Danish history: The Poetry Prize. The Poetry Prize is given to a collection of poems from the previous year that has excelled in linguistic excellence and poetic qualities. The prize grants the poet 10.000 DKK. The Poetry Prize is awarded by Poesiens Hus in collaboration with Politikens Boghal.

Through POESITID we wish to contribute to the development of the Danish language, and create a festival experience where the audience experience poetry in the most attractive, captivating and engaging way.
