Taras Malkovych lives and works in Kyiv, Ukraine. He graduated from the National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv and defended his PhD thesis on the specifics of Ukrainian and international film translation. He was a Visiting Fulbright Scholar at Columbia University, researching modern American poetry. His poems were translated into English, German, French, Bulgarian, Polish, and Russian. He has been a participant at many literary festivals and is the author and compiler of the anthology “The Sleepwalkers. Dreams of Ukrainian Writers” (2010) and the author of the poetry collection “The one who loves long words” (2013). The anthology of young U.S. poetry in his own Ukrainian translations is forthcoming in 2016.

Lviv International BookForum

Lviv International BookForum has taken place annually, since 1997, since 2001 with foreigners participating, since 2006 – as a full-scale International Literary Festival within the framework of Publishers’ Forum (Book Fair) in Lviv. It is Ukraine’s largest and the only literary festival, one of the biggest festivals in Central and Eastern Europe. The representatives from all over Ukraine and other countries are invited to participate – writers, poets, artists, cultural activists, scientists, journalists, translators, literary critics.

The Festival is organized by non-profit non-governmental organization Publishers’ Forum, which was founded in 1995. Its aim was to involve all interested people in the development of the Ukrainian Book Publishing, popularization of Ukrainian books and reading, increasing cultural and educational level of Ukrainians. The non-governmental organization deals with project implementations, organization, and arrangement of exhibitions, festivals, presentations, conferences, and other events to favor educational and cultural progress, including such spheres as literature, book publishing, and library.
