Tanja Petrič

Tanja Petrič is a freelance literary critic, translator, and editor. She graduated from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana in the fields of comparative literature and German language and literature. Her book reviews and articles on literature and culture have appeared in various Slovene and international literary magazines, both print and online, and broadcast on Slovene public radio. She currently works as a literary critic for the newspaper Dnevnik. She has translated many authors from German into Slovene, including M. M. Flašar, J. Lüscher, F. Mayröcker, R. Menasse, and A. Schwarzenbach. She also works for the Slovene Writers’ Association: from 2008 to 2015, she was the publications editor for the Vilenica International Literary Festival and, since 2011, has been the editor of the Litteræ Slovenicæ series, which was awarded the Lavrin Diploma for the best translation/editing project in 2012. Tanja Petrič is the recipient of the Lirikonov Zlát Award for poetry translation (2011), the Stritar Award for literary reviews (2015), and the Radojka Vrančič Award for best young translator (2016). Since 2010, she has been a member of the Slovenian Association of Literary Translators and the Association of Slovene Literary Critics; she has also been a member of the Slovene PEN Centre since 2016.
