Maria Rus Bojan

is a Romanian art critic and curator living and working in Amsterdam. She has worked as a curator at the Fine Arts Museum, Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania, and general director of the Sindan Cultural Foundation in Bucharest. In 2008 she founded MB Art Agency - a platform for new formats of exhibiting, artists promotion and designing programs of contemporary art. In over twenty-five years of activity, Maria curated a large number of exhibitions worldwide, including major surveys on numerous Romanian and international artists. She co-curated the Romanian Pavilion at the 54th International Art Exhibition- la Biennale di Venezia 2011 with the project Performing History. In 2003 she began collaborating with internationally renowned artist Ulay, with whom she organized several projects, including the exhibitions: GEN.E.T.RATION ULTIMA RATIO (2005, Centro Parraga Murcia, Spain) and ULAY - a Retrospective from the 70-80s, (2010, MB Art Agency, Amsterdam). This collaboration materialized in the publication of the monograph WHISPERS: Ulay on Ulay, (Valiz: Amsterdam, 2015), book distinguished with the AICA Prize, 2015 for publications. Maria has published numerous articles and essays on contemporary art, and since 2014 she is a guest-editor of the Sinteza Magazine.
