Open Call for Young Researchers and Academics in the Field of Literature

In recent years, Versopolis has received a growing number of proposals, submissions, and inquiries from young researchers, academics, critics, and literary scholars who wish to publish original articles and research on literature, poetry, literary festivals, translation, publishing, and the broader literary field.

At a time when academic publishing opportunities are increasingly limited, and when space for literary research, critical reflection, and interdisciplinary thinking is becoming ever more difficult to access, Versopolis has decided to open its platform to new voices from the academic and research community.

Through this open call, we invite young researchers, emerging academics, PhD candidates, independent scholars, critics, and literary professionals to submit original articles and research texts for possible publication on the Versopolis website.

We are interested in texts that explore literature in its widest sense: contemporary poetry, literary translation, literary festivals, publishing, literary networks, audience development, digital literature, literary activism, cultural policies, multilingualism, emerging authors, and the role of literature in today’s society.

Selected articles will be published on the Versopolis website, offering authors international visibility within a platform that connects literary festivals, authors, translators, editors, publishers, and readers across Europe and beyond.

Each year, up to 12 articles will be selected for publication.

WHO CAN APPLY?

The call is open to:

• young researchers,
• PhD candidates and early-career academics,
• independent scholars,
• literary critics,
• researchers working in the field of literature,
• professionals exploring literature, translation, publishing, or literary festivals from a research perspective.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Applicants are invited to send:

• a short abstract of the proposed article,
• the full article or research text,
• a short biography of the author,
• a photo of the author (and photo credits).

Texts should be written in English and should not exceed 12 pages.

Submissions should be original and can be previously published.

DEADLINE

The open call is available until 1st of September 2026.

Versopolis will reopen the call every year, creating an ongoing space for young researchers and academics who wish to share their work with a wider international literary audience.
