Joanna Pomorska

Graduate of the Department of Slavonic Language and Literature at the University of Warsaw, is one of the most outstanding Polish translators of the Slovenian language and also a highly regarded editor, working for many renowned publishers. Her works include mostly fiction, essays and drama. She has been popularizing the Slovenian literature and culture in Poland, publishing also critical and other texts in literary magazines and daily press. One of her favourite authors is Drago Jančar, the greatest modern Slovenian writer. Joanna Pomorska was awarded a prize by Literatura na Świecie (1987) for her own presentation of Slovenian literature, by the Association of Authors ZAiKS (2017) for the translations of Slovenian literature, and was also honoured with the International Tone Pretnar Award in Slovenia (2017, honorary title „Ambassador of Slovenian Literature and Language”).
