cape canaveral

we were never launched

yet at a breath-taking pace

at the controls

surely sits

a crazed man

but he can't be seen from here

from the back of the capsule

we hear stray rumours

about a course

but we don't listen any more

don't believe in anything

                    but there's one thing

we surely must have had roots

family trees used to grow here

                   quite right

hewn and shaped into fuel

for this progressive craft

which consumes the least

when free from ground

                   best of all

not to cut the turf

preferably

never touch

earth

canaveral-höfði

lögðum aldrei af stað

samt á svimandi hraða

við stýrið

situr áreiðanlega

óður maður

en hann sést ekki héðan

aftur eftir skrokknum

berast flökkusagnir

um stefnu

en við hlustum ekki lengur

trúum ekki á neitt

                   en það er eitt

við hljótum að hafa átt rætur

hér uxu einu sinni ættartré

                   alveg rétt

sveigð og höggvin í eldsneyti

þessa framsækna fars

sem eyðir minnstu

laust frá landi

                   allra best

að rista ekki svörðinn

strjúka

helst aldrei

jörðu
