the space-walk sutra ii

the space-walk sutra ii

ii. the endless supply of souls

… all cautious and cunningly careful with their calculus
as they bear that uncertainty quivering with their candidacy …
… all fearing and carrying that uncertain opportunity
back to their homes night after night,
with the stars sparkling with lurid laughter
upon their promising hopes …
… all fearing of achieving nothing after all that
… all fearing that exercises in water tanks
will be as close as they will ever be
to zero gravity …
… all fearing to end up flying commercial airliners
packed with retirees to that whoretown called honolulu
… all fearing to be forced to make some other use of it.
