Shipyard S9

by Darko Šeparović

Shipyard S9

our blues tonight

are two long

dusty years

in which we were

like workers

in

a shipyard who

sand down all joints and

edges so as not to

crack open skin

for a moment interrupt

the voyage

on a big white cruiser

on the deck of which we

liked to think we were lying

and wondering

at the endurable everyday life

in which older couples

hold hands

operations end well

and everything between people and things

is arranged so neatly

that it irritates us just like the train

that every morning at 6.04

transports oil for the tanks

of heavy ships

far beyond this sleepy

morning somewhere penguins

are dying

Brodogradilište Š9

naš blues večeras

su dvije duge

prašnjave godine

u kojima smo bili

poput radnika

u

brodogradilištu koji

bruse sve spojeve i

rubove da ne bi

rastvorili kožu

na trenutak prekinuli

putovanje

velikim bijelim cruiserom

na čijoj smo palubi

voljeli misliti da ležimo

i čudimo se

podnošljivoj svakodnevici

u kojoj se stariji parovi

drže za ruke

operacije sretno završe

a sve među ljudima i stvarima

tako je uredno posloženo

da nas iritira kao i vlak

koji svako jutro u 6.04

prevozi naftu za tankove

teških brodova

daleko izvan ovog pospanog

jutra negdje pingvini

umiru
