Strange Wings on One´s Shoulders

Strange Wings on One´s Shoulders

You are righthanded  I am lefthanded

as if by nature then we dream of flying

you have a wing on your left shoulder

and naturally I have one on my right

so in beating our wings we would wish

shoulder grown closely to shoulder

for liftoff.

On solid ground

we have agreed here for a long time

but woe betide there in the skies we could

be torn to bits

and so dependably we hold each other´s hand

my left hand in your right

and spend the evening mutually

scratching our itching shoulder blades
