Classic Attempt

Classic Attempt

He hesitates he halts  he hurries

belches and squelches

abandons himself to the skies

down below fingers spread by someone

earth tree roof

and hollow hand o’er the ground

he ponders yet a while

his best chances

above him the heavens expectant

below something else awaits

him with high hopes

No he can’t ever do it

that can’t work

not from this height

forcing Fortuna’s arms

he stretches the tips of his lungs

sucks his eyes inward

and looks up once more.
