Le Printemps des Poetes

Paris, France

The national resource centre for poetry also bears the name “Printemps des Poètes”. It is a in a non-governmental organisation and organises the cultural event of March and many other events.
It organises professional trainings for teachers, librarians and actors, in order to help promote poetry in their work.
Teachers can also join a network called “Ecole en poésie”, which gathers more than two hundred schools throughout the world. These schools promote poetry in their daily life, through many actions.
More than sixty towns and villages are involved in a network dedicated to the promotion of poetry in the city, through displays, events, distribution, orders, artistic residencies…
The Printemps des Poètes promotes the links between poetry and music through the Andrée Chedid Prize which rewards a composer who worked on a musical setting dedicated to a poem. Since 2015, the winner is invited to the Festival “Francofolies de La Rochelle”.
The Printemps des Poètes organises a festival of short movies called Ciné Poèmes. It takes place in March in Bezons (near Paris) and promotes poetry through a series of movies dedicated to poets, poems or poetical themes.
The Printemps des Poètes also promotes intergenerational ties with NGO “Lire et faire lire” by sending retirees in schools and recreation centres to read poetry to children. In 2015, more than six thousands kids discovered four contemporary poets thanks to this platform.
