Nominees for 'kresnik' award announced

Ten nominees have been announced for the literary award 'kresnik', awarded by Slovenian newspaper Delo.

‘Kresnik’ is a long-standing literary award for the best Slovenian novel of the previous year, which is awarded annually by a Slovenian daily newspaper Delo. 'Kresnik', founded by a novelist Vlado Žabot, has a long tradition in Slovenian history – the first time it was awarded was in 1991.

This year another ten nominees have been selected for the award which will bring the winner in a few weeks’ time. The selection has been a tough task as the jury had to narrow down from over a hundred novels that were published in 2014. Among the ten selected, three novels have been published by Beletrina publishing house: Kakorkoli by Polona Glavan, Panorama: pripoved o poteku dogodkov by Dušan Šarotar and Odpusti by Aleš Šteger.

The final five that will be competing for the award will be announced on 23 May 2015. The ceremony will be held at Rožnik, as is the tradition.
