Littfest kicks off in Umeå, Sweden

The temperature in Umeå, Sweden, is rising as Littfest, the annual international festival of literature, has started.

Last year, Umeå was the "European Capital of Culture" and the number of Littfest visitors soared. However, the festival is not known for resting on their laurels. This year's edition combines the usual high quality concept with new exciting collaborations, such as Littfest being the only Nordic participator in the Versopolis project.

The startup selection of poets from Versopolis - Ana Brnardić from Croatia, Harry Man from the United Kingdom, Tom van de Voorde from Belgium, and the slovenian authors Katja Perat and Gašper Bivšek - will contribute to the evening festivities on Thursday (12 March), the first day of the festival, as well as headlining one of the events wrapping up the regular programme on Saturday (14 March).

Between their performances the poets will have the opportunity to mingle among authors from 12 countries - international celebrities such as Jeanette Winterson and Lilian Thuram as well as some of the most interesting and leading authors in Sweden today. To sum it up: This year’s edition of Littfest looks to be extraordinary. As per usual.
