Journal of images and imaginations

Versopolis poet Helwig Brunner has a new book out these days titled „Journal of Images and Imaginations“. It was published at Droschl publishing house (www.droschl.com).

Helwig Brunner has been recording over the last ten years, „reading and writing journals, but also listening“.

„I don’t think that poets basically say things. Poetry listens“, Helwig Brunner is quoting the American writer and poet Forrest Gander. This is what poetry does and about this Helwig Brunner provides information on a high level. This „Journal of Images and Imaginations“ is a research about poetic materials, about subjects and forms, from which texts are made, ranging from biographic elements to reading someone else’s texts, from observations of colours and of the light to experiences when playing the fiddle.

Helwig Brunner was born in Istanbul in 1967. He attended Akademisches Gymnasium in Graz / Styria – where he lives at present – and studied Biology and Music – an interesting combination of subjects, which has been formative for his literary approach.

The approach of a natural scientist guarantees a precise look at things and matters, full of knowledge and wit at the same time.
