The Goncourt of poetry / Robert Sabatier 2016 was awarded on May 9 to le Printemps des Poètes.

A great and unexpected achievement

The Prize, which was awarded unanimously by the jury*, is a wonderful recognition of the Printemps des Poètes’team’s obstinate and daily work since 1999 to restore poetry in public space and its legitimacy in the cultural landscape.

If this distinction is a tribute to all those who contributed to the action of the NGO (**) it must also be understood as a recognition of the efforts against the odds by thousands of event organizers, in France and abroad (librarians, teachers, booksellers, poets, publishers ...) who have never renounced to promote poetry.

This unique choice of the Académie Goncourt can only encourage us to demand even higher and stronger presence of poetry and its insurgent force.
