Found in Translation
The Gdańsk Meetings of Literary Translators “Found in Translation” is a literary festival organized since 2013, whose goal it is to promote literature in translation and to bring awareness to the general public of the role that literary translators have in the development of literature and culture. The festival also serves the purpose of a platform for encounters and exchanges: aside from literary translators, the circle of guests always includes writers, publishers, literary critics – people who contribute to the quality of translations and promote their value.
The festival’s program is directed to the greater public and offers workshops for a variety of participants as well as Q&A sessions, discussion panels and artistic activities. The main theme of 2017 edition is “Small Languages – Great Literature”.
“Found in Translation” is held every two years, alternating with the European Poet of Freedom Festival. Beginning in 2015 it is accompanied by the granting of the Tadeusz Boy-Żeleński Award for Translation.
